Ok I have filled out a form at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/
Hopefully they will recognize that a car that unexpectedly loses 80 or so percent of its ability to accelerate from a stop will realize this is a safety issue.

Your temperature unit in Fahrenheit confused me so I didn’t take notice but after conversion realize at 90F or 32C not possible for IMA to freeze as we’re at that temperature all year round and our fleet of 500 rental 2005 hybrid didn’t even show a slightest problem related to IMA.
On a hot afternoon I measured my front windscreen at 140F or 60C therefore heat kill the IMA out of question. Go back to them with this new theory.

There are many people having these problems.
I cant go back to them with a new theory because I dont have one and I am not sure you have proposed one.
and i believe that in 2005 the car was totally different. this is the generation 2 civic hybrid.
There should be no concerns about the Civic Hybrid battery.
The battery's condition is cleverly controlled by a Power Control Unit that actively ensures the charge/discharge condition of the IMA battery.
To validate this, Honda has started using the Civic Hybrid since 2002 in the Honda Diracc car sharing scheme. There are now currently about 100 units of the Civic Hyrbid running in Singapore. To date it has covered more than 3.5million km in Singapore and none of the vehicle has a battery failure.
The technology has been conceived such that you do not have to worry about the workings of the IMA battery and motor, hence the Civic Hybrid functions just like a normal car, there are no fanciful monitors and functions like come competitor's product. So all you need to do is to take care of the Civic Hybrid like a normal petrol driven vehicle.

i'm very close with the local honda, i'm trying my best to see if i can be any help but don't place too much hope on me.
I've these concerns before i purchase the car, above info our local honda distributorship, if the older generation IMA work without fail, a newer generation IMA will work better. BTW we're yet to hear any 2006 fail on that.

My dealer here in Tucson Arizona told me that they have had other customers with this problem, it doesnt take long to find others on this message board with the same issues as me.
US driving conditions and Singapore driving conditions are very different.
We do not have cases of any 2006 Civic IMA system not charging to date.
Our service division are well trained and equipped to handle any service situations when it arises.

btw we've close to two thousands hybrid here under condition(except extreme cold) worse than you and yet to find any similar fault.
have you check with Sorsha yet? thats a good example you should explore
sorsha has gotten the same response as I have gotten from Honda. That there is nothing wrong with the car and it is operating normally.
saying that this inst occurring, or that its normal is ridiculous. Sorsha put it well in an email i just received.
If your television was shutting down all the time while you were watching it would you consider that normal or acceptable? This is basically what is happening.
You say you don't have any cases of 2006 ima system not charging, but thats not really the issue. The issue is failing to assist. Under this condition the car will still move, but accelerates very very slowly. do the cars ever get parked in the sun in the middle of the day or are they driving all day?
perhaps you dont see these issues because your cars are in operation all day and never go through the heat soaking cycle we see by parking our cars during the day as we are at work.

hey hope you don't forget this guy halfway across the globe trying to help you figure out the cause despite your honda say no to you?
you now directing the anger on me which i'm trying my best to help out
