Think there are any battery over-insulation issues?

David, Thanks for the great photos and instructions. I keep hoping Honda will come out with a correct tray for the HCHII, but I guess it's just not going to happen. Yours may be the best solution!

Doesn't seem to be an issue for the cut-your-tray solution as the tray doesn't actually touch the seat-back/battery-cover portion of the trunk.

Are there additional batteries under the trunk floor? I glanced at the micro-spare, but didn't dig around... if there are batteries under there, then that may be an issue.

Oh, I guess I'm not sure where those batteries actually are.

All the batteries are behind the rear seat. Nothing under the floor of the trunk!

I was going to buy the Honda tray but the dealer made me aware of the fact that the Honda Civic tray needed to be cut to fit the HCH. I figured if I cut the top lip off water or debris could spill off onto the floor so I passed. Also, I thought it was a lot of money.

I took a trip to Walmart instead and bought an oversized rubber mat that curls up onto the sides of the interior trunk space. Works great. Got a light grey color that kind of matches the trunk. Think its was like $12.00. I forget the exact size but remember measuring the trunk and the mat was like 5 inchs bigger so it curls up a bit on the top and bottom. Less on the sides. Think it may have been 45x42 or something close to that.
