Can interior incandescent bulbs be swapped for LEDs

Can interior incandescent bulbs be swapped for LEDs
Greetings. A few years ago while attending the NAIAS, I noticed some high end cars had interior lights that were too white to be normal incandescent bulbs.
Are there any LED (white) bulbs that could replace the current bulbs used in the dome lamp and reading lamp fixtures?
And while I'm asking, any way to swap exterior incandescent bulbs (i.e. brake/parking lamps) with LEDs?
Thanks
Cheers
Mike

Re: Can interior incandescent bulbs be swapped for LEDs
Hi,
I use LEDs in my experimental airplane for virtually all my lighting, both interior and exterior. There is whole universe of LED products for automotive uses. I have nothing but great things to say about the service and selection at SurperbrightLEDs.com. I am sure you can find something suitable there.

Re: Can interior incandescent bulbs be swapped for LEDs
I have my wish list for the lights that I'll be changing over.
One question. In the SurperbrightLEDs.com site, much explanation is made that the signal flicker may need to be replaced with an LED ready one because the LED lights are not enough of a load to allow the flicker to work correctly.
Mention is made of also adding (in series) in line resistors so that the new LED signal bulbs "will have enough resistance" for the signal flicker will function correctly.
Since this car does not have a flicker (it is software driven within the MICU), does anyone know if the MICU simply creates the signal pulse electronically and not based on resistance from the light bulb?
Thanks
Mike

Re: Can interior incandescent bulbs be swapped for LEDs
Another question: switching the "A/T Gear Position Indicator Panel Light Bulb"...
...will be made much easier if I can remove the "Shift Lever ****".
Below are some pictures of the "Shift Lever Disassembly/Reassembly"....
I cannot find text that explains how one removes the "Shift Lever Shroud" to gain access to the 2 screws that hold the "Shift Lever ****" to the "Shift Lever Rod".
Does anyone know "the trick"?
Thanks
Mike

Re: Can interior incandescent bulbs be swapped for LEDs
This is an on-going project, to replace all the bulbs with LEDs.
The first switch has been made, in the trunk.
