Problem identified. I looked under the dash and found that I've been pressing on a little goose simultaneously with the break. The dang thing won't fly away though.

Have had the same issue ... but I read in one of the online 'zine reviews of the car that they experience something similar and it appeared normal, so I haven't pursued. Interested to read how this all turns out ...

Hello Everyone,
I've been an HCHII owner for about a year now and I've have this issue with the flatulent brake pedals starting about two weeks into owning the vehicle. It was rather intermittent and happened about 4-5 times per week and I drive about 300 miles a week in Seattle stop and go traffic. When I initially took it in to my dealer's service department, they said that they couldn't reproduce it and to come back when it's more reproducible. Since it didn't happen too often, I just left it at that at that time.

Recently, I had to take my car in for a broken power window but this time, I went to another dealer service department in the area and had them look at the braking noise thinking maybe they know something about this issue. They test drove it and told me that they reproduced the problem and at first they said they lubed it. Then they said they realized it didn't fix the problem and went ahead and replaced the brake booster. To make a long story short, after they have replaced the brake booster, the flatulent brake pedal problem is a LOT worse. Now I get this noise in every commute to and from work on a daily basis, ie, it happens multiple times a day instead of just a few times a week. When I let them know, they told me that Honda Tech line told them this is "normal" behavior in the car and that only 4 people nationwide (USA) have reported this issue. I was very upset that this service department didn't tell me this information in the first place but instead decided to use the "let's try this" and "let's try that" approach and actually made the problem worse!

The reason I'm posting here is to ask EVERYONE who has the flatulent brake pedal issue to ask your service department to open a Techline ticket on it. If we all let Honda Corporation know of our discontent with this issue, maybe they'll get off their *ss and start looking to fix this problem.

I don't mind mild vibrations or squeaks in the car...I expect that in any car over time and I consider that normal. However, a flatulent noise is unacceptable to me because quite frankly, it's embarrassing when you have guest passengers in the car. I've been asked in serveral occasions if I farted. LOL

Anyway, please, if you have this problem have your service dealer open a Techline ticket and get the reference number. I believe this might be the only way this can be resolved.

Also, you should call Honda Customer relations after you've opened a techline ticket at 1800 999 1009 and let them know of your discontent with this issue. I don't think we should be spending $25K on a car to find out that the brakes fart. I wouldn't expect such defects or design flaws in a Hyundai or even a Yugo; and I think Honda needs to step up to the plate to honor their receipt of the Motor Trend Car of the year award. I'm sure they would not have received that honor if the brakes were farting during testing of the vehicle by Motor Trend.

Thanks.

I have noticed sound and took my car to the local dealership and they have no idea and told me it is normal. They told me to wait until it gets worse but i'm taking my car back tomorrow and givingthem the info I have from this posts. Manchild, do you have any update on your car??

If it helps, I am considering a Honda Accord SE v6 and a Civic Hybrid (sans navigation).. I test drove both yesterday and noticed the Civic Hybrid had the brake like squeaking noise. And the car was NEW!

I have an 06 and it seems it happens when I press the brake suddenly or a little harder stop than usual. It almost sounds as though there is air in the brake cylinder or lines. It has made this noise almost since new?????

I was finally able to get my dealer to duplicate the noise. They called Honda Tech (or whatever the central tech specialists are called), and were told that this noise is "normal."

It still occurs intermittently, and now I'm getting a squeaking noise occasionally from the door locks as I they automatically lock when I drive off. I think I'm dealing with some ghosts!

There is one advantage; if I do fart in the car I can now blame it on the brakes!

I have a brand-new 07 HCH that does this, too! When I took it in for service the local service department heard the brake fart when they drove it but had no idea. They asked me to bring it back when their regional inspector was in town. He heard it and documented, "normal brake sound for vehicle." How ridiculous is this - to have a brand new $25,000 car sound like a Model T and have Honda say this is normal?

Does anyone have an update on successful fixes for this or at least more reasonable, customer-focused responses from Honda?
