Thumbs up Re: Best tank ever

Kenny,
Congrats! I also just recently achieved my best tank at 64.0 mpg. My work commute is only 7.2 mi, and the weather here is still a bit cool at night. However, I made one trip to Buffalo (160 mi) and two trips to Erie, PA (110 mi). I also had two short trips of around 42 mi where I really pushed the DWL envelope and drove 20-50 mph. One trip was 88.2 mpg and the other was 91.5 mpg. These cars are incredible - if you learn and are very patient. Keep up the good work.

Nice work! What was your avg speed during the tank? You had mentioned that you were attempting to lower from your usual 53.

I've slowed a little on the past tank and the MPG has come up. I got about 54 last tank and I'm currently displaying 55 (though I've only got about 70 miles on it). Unfortunately, my wife is planning on driving the car on Monday... that'll suck me down to about 50. Oh well... I've got time to bring it back up!

I've dropped down to 50 mph.
It is also the warm weather, no AC though.
(It certainly is NOT because I have lost weight.)

So is there a standing record for the HCHII? And if so, what are the circumstances in which it was set? I know there is a record (of something like 109mpg) for the Prius.

I'm currently on my best tank ever, reading 54.5mpg on over 300 miles. While this is far from record territory, it is about a 20% improvement over anything I've done before. It's like something clicked in terms of technique (in addition to the warm weather, and my longer 10 mile commute). After a few thousand more miles under my belt, I would love to play around with some sort of one-tank-record contest.

One thing that I've always wondered about though: would it be fair to gas up at altitude and follow the rivers down for a 4,000+ foot loss over the distance of a tank?

Edit: BTW, congrats on the awesome tank Kenny!!!

Great tank Kenny. I am not certain of the record high MPG but this would be good to know.

Good luck
