Thanks again, S Keith! I'll note that our house is on a steep hill, and I can avoid treating the car gently as I ascend it on leaving the driveway.

I think I may need to see if I get a bit of a personal engagement with someone in the local service dept. so they'll take an interest...I can be charming!

That's perfect. You can also pop it into neutral to avoid regen and put a greater strain on the battery.
