50K oil change analysis

50K oil change analysis
My HCHII recently turned 50,000 miles. Here is the results of the oil analysis for the previous 10,000 mile run.
As many of you know, I ignore the MM when it comes to maintenance and lubricant replacement, and stick to a strict 10K maintenance interval.
The results again show that this method is safe and prudent. The analysis shows that at 10,000 miles the Mobil1 0-20 synthetic still has more than 25% of its useful life remaining, and that engine wear is excellent. Add to this the reduction in waste oil going into the environment, as well as the lower cost of operation, and changing your car's oil at 10,000 miles is the optimum way to maintain your HCHII.

Re: 50K oil change analysis
Funny the excessive idling comment, didn't know our cars idled excessively. Good report , you should post it on Bobistheoilguy forums, no Hybrid oil analysis over there.
I figured my intervals would be in excess of 10k kms.
Thanks for posting.

Re: 50K oil change analysis
Looks like there was a lot of moly in that first change, put in at the factory.
Just my 2 cents: I'll stick to the Maintenance Minder guidance, for various reasons. One way I am saving some oil now that I've started doing my own changes: I put in 3 liters, with/without filter change (and I empty the filter even if I'm re-using). The spec. is 3.2 liters, with filter change, 3.0 without. I end up maybe 1/8" below the max level on the dipstick, which is fine by me. The dealership's service department routinely dumped in 4 liters...
