Hi All,

I have recently started having some trouble with my 2008 HCH's IMA system. I dropped it off into the dealer today to get serviced and the rep told me that it may still be covered under a 150k warranty. My car currently has 135k miles on it and I live in Chicago, IL. Does that warranty exist in IL? I know that it is offered in CA but I haven't seen many posts from people in IL having this same problem. Any help and advice would be much appreciated! I can't possibly fathom the idea of spending close to 3k on a car that is almost 8 years old.

 

10yr/150k covered under SULEV states. I do not believe IL is one.

There are other stipulations including VIN. Your dealer will be able to make the determination, but based on my understanding, you aren't covered.

Rather than replace, consider grid charging/discharging. It can breathe a couple of years of life into an ailing pack. DIY link in my sig.

Thank you for that. I did glance over your link but it didnt have any details as far as installation goes. Do you have a guide also on how to install it in the vehicle?

 

You don't. The down side to the cheap DIY version is you have to remove the pack. The HCH fan requires a PWM signal to drive it (can't just spin it with 12V), and that is beyond my expertise.
