06 HCHII @ 220k
I'm just checking in from last year (https://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/...ii-180k-27275/). I guess I'm just showing off, but I also hope to provide some positive insight/hope for those looking at buying a used high-mileage HCHII.
Happy to update that my 2006 Civic Hybrid that I bought new has been doing fine at 220,000 miles. Currently averages around 46mpg over the past year (2mpg less than last year). I don't actively hypermile like I used to. Usually run 30psi cold on all 4 Dunlops. Drive around 70-80mph on the freeway. I'll blast the AC on as needed (necessary in Texas). Car is driven 6 days a week. EVERY time that I start the car, it automatically recals down to 2 bars, so I just learned to deal with it. Car recals approximately every 10 miles. I've learned Autostop is my enemy, so I downshift to L to get the battery charging while I'm at the stoplight and NEVER use Autostop. Some schnook in a truck backed into rear bumper 3 days ago, so more battle scars for this poor car.
Hopefully car will be fine next year @ 260k miles when I check-in here next year. If it survives to 300k miles, I will reward it with body repairs and new paintjob. I hated this car with a passion 2 years ago due to those recals. Now I seem to love it (car is like fungus...it grows on you). Eventually I hope I can hit 500k miles at least on the original IMA lol
Just for kicks and giggles, I decided to hypermile today (60mph on the freeway, drafting 18-wheelers, autocross-style turns, pulsing the pedal on inclines/hills, no AC). Managed a respectable 56mpg on a 115.5-mi trip with mix of hwy and city driving.

Re: 06 HCHII @ 220k
Thanks. Been out for 5 years. The S2k and HCHII were my med school/residency workhorses respectively. Maser and Bimmer for the wifey. Ironically, I prefer to replace my cars with older Honda vehicles (currently eyeing a rare '86 Honda City Turbo 2 and hunting for a Honda Beat...recently sold a '94 Dallara/Mugen-Honda Formula3 racecar).

Re: 06 HCHII @ 220k
In response to posts from my older thread (sorry for the lateness of my reply):
Answer: Yes
Recals don't bother me as much as it used to and my car's FE seems about the same as it was at 50k and 100k miles. I can still get 100mpg on rare occasions for a 5-mile stretch. If my mileage drop was severe, I might consider battery replacement, but currently satisfied with the car's present performance.

That's great ! I hope mine will do the same
The IMA & malfunction lights doesn't appear yet ? or it's just alternating off and on , and you took the pic when it's off ?
Did you update your IMA software ?

Re: 06 HCHII @ 220k
It came on around 110k miles constantly, not intermittently (early 2010). Obviously that made me nervous. At around 115k miles, I decided to take it to the dealer. During those 5k miles, the car ran just fine and never threw a recal. I don't know if I had driven the car to 220k miles with the IMA light on if the car would've still behaved the same way (ie. no/minimal recals). So I fought with the dealer and American Honda. I was in a difficult position b/c the car and battery is out of warranty. In the end, the offer was $2250 for the battery replacement/labor costs. A friend of mine who was a tech at another Honda dealer told me I should just go with the software update instead since it's free. So I opted for the software update. The IMA light came off and then came on the recals The IMA/CEL light has not come on since @ 115k miles.

I've been running on flat tires all this time. Pumped up from 25psi to 40psi. Managed 69mpg on a 100-mile trip the other day. Had an emergency this morning and got 45mpg despite driving about 90mph.
