Check Engine Light on: P0497 EVAP System Low Purge Flow
2004 HCH ULEV - Check engine light came on while driving. Hooked up my OBDII reader and found P0497. Upon looking this up in my service manual I can see that there are a series of test that I can run through by using a multi-meter and jumper wire on the ECM Connector B which has 24 pins. I also found some simple test that can be done testing the vent valve operation using a 9v battery on the web.
Questions:
Where is ECM Connector B located?
Has anyone had this error on their ULEV model and fixed it, if so what was the issue?
Thanks,
Rich

Another question:
Is there anything bad that can happen if I don't fix this right away? Vehicle seems to run just fine.
Guess I'll just do the canister vent valve first since it seems pretty low cost and easy to access as compared to the other devices.
Hoses seem to be in good shape and not leaking.
Thanks,
Rich

Don't know. The manuals generally will give you component location if you look hard enough.
Shouldn't hurt anything. Likely just increased pollutants due to fuel fumes if anything.

Re: Check Engine Light on: P0497 EVAP System Low Purge Flow
Thanks Keith. I'm sure the manual has it buried in there somewhere. Just thought someone would know and share, but I can read!
I think I'll let this tank get used up and refill and see if the light will go out before I do anything. I'll update the progress and post the final solution once the issue is resolved.
If anyone has any input it would be appreciated.
Happy New Year!
