Default Can I cut out my catalytics if they're damaged?

The car is an 03 with 410k on it. I just replaced the sensors and it's still coding, but now it says catalytic problems.

Can I just get a muffler shop to cut them out and weld in a straight pipe? I dont have the money to replace the catalytics right now and I want the car to keep running well.

What are my options? Thanks in advance.

Most muffler shops can cut out the old and put in a new universal one for $200-250.
