Has anyone with an advanced scan tool ever checked out their knock retard while driving? Mine indicates knock consistently when I'm accelerating at anything other than barely on the throttle.

I don't know if this is just a normal behavior on this model engine or if there's actually a problem I should be chasing down.

I do realize that on most cars there's generally no KR while driving except under perhaps extreme acceleration or if there's other issues but I have had cars in the past where bursts of knock retard were pretty normal

Anyone with experience feel free to chime in!

EDIT: Here's what I have done to the car in the last few days. All new spark plugs, cleaned egr ports, oil change and a CVT oil change. The air filter looks fine.

When I picked the car up a few days ago it was running on 3 cylinders. I pulled the valve cover and found cylinder #3 rocker idler thing broken. I put a used one on and it runs nice now.

109k miles.

I did pull the plate / valve and clean everything out a few days ago. Holy smokes they were cruddy / clogged!}

I will update the original post with what I have done in the last few days on the car.
