Guss,

This is the only site that gets into detail with the issues. I would recommend reading Defenders AJC online blog, I believe the link is somewhere buried in this topic, it goes into great detail and has the service tickets scanned in for you to see. There are not a lot of forums about these vehicles, as a little research showed that at the end of last year only 3700 Tahoe/Yukon Hybrids has been sold, I know they have sold some since then but that is still a very small market.

I actually got my truck back today, the service ticket was pretty interesting. It says:

Found voltage to EBCM fluctuating and below spec. Removed EBCM and found Brake Fluid between it and the BMPV. Techline sent an EBCM and a BMPV. Installed both units and performed reprogramming. Performed 81 step brake bleed procedure.

It also goes into detail about having issues reprogramming until they preformed a capacitance drain and then reset all the modules.

They also preformed the service update required as part of the recall.

Drove it home with no issues thus far, and I am still trying to work with the Local Area Rep...who for some reason the consumer is not aloud to speak to directly (according the service rep that has been handling my case). The dealer I purchased the vehicle from said they would contact the Area Rep tomorrow and try to work out a buyback or a trade of some sort....they seemed pretty confident they could work something out. I offered to sell this car back and pay the difference between it and one of the Denali's they had on the floor (they are a Chevy and a GMC dealer), so that may help.

If the truck is fixed, why bother with the buyback? Let's face it, these are high tech vehicles. If the problem is indeed fixed with a software update, I would not expect the problem to resurface. After all, software is digital. It's not going to degrade over time.

I cartainly understand your point, I guess my main issue has been the total amount of time this vehicle has been out of service since I purchased it in late Feb. I understand that we have warranties for a reason, and fixing glitches like this is one of them. However, I think having the vehicle in the shop for major operating malfunctions 1 our of every 4 days you have owned it is excessive, even with the warranty. Having a reliable vehicle that you feel comfortable driving or allowing someone else to drive should be a benefit when purchasing a new vehicle; that benefit has not been realized with this truck (mine...not everyone's).

No problem Guss.

My initial problem this trip was the loss of the power assist on the brakes, I had all the same issues that the title of this thread references.

I would like to return it mainly because I feel that three service trips totaling over a month of time in the shop is pretty excessive. Additionally, all three trips have been for malfunctions that prohibited the use of the vehicle (none were faulty power windows or anything like that). I just feel that my truck, not all Tahoe Hybrids, has some major issues that a new car shouldn't. I do not want to return it, as jet 1 would suggest, for financial reasons...I don't owe anything on it so that would not apply in my case.

Just wondering, if anyone who had a brake loss issue on your hybrid, can you still use the Parking emergency brake to stop the vehicle, since this should be a mechnical brake???
