Fuel Gauge/warning/ first tank overall consumption

Re: Fuel Gauge/warning/ first tank overall consumption
Thanks Mike,
very valid point, but if it was a gas issue, I wouldn't have been able to get high mileage on the highway (21-23 MPG) either correct?
hopefully things will improve in the near future.

Re: Fuel Gauge/warning/ first tank overall consumption
Also Guss, forgive the ignorance here. I have never been in that part of the world and don't know the conditions. But if you drive off road much at all, and the ground is soft, it will kill your mileage. Just another thought. Also, these vehicles were designed for regular unleaded gasoline. Our unleaded here is 87 octane in the states. Running a premium will not improve the mileage. I think someone, maybe you, posted a higher number over there but I don't think 90 octane will decrease your mileage, it just won't make it better. This is a new Tahoe, you don't need additives for the truck. Now if the fuel is bad maybe something for that but most additives will boost octane and you don't want to do that. I really think the tank just had less in it than you thought it did on the first one. If not, it is time to talk to the dealer. Good luck to you Guss, let us know.

Re: Fuel Gauge/warning/ first tank overall consumption
I do want to say that the DIC is not an instant gauge for the average fuel economy. I reset that after every fillup. I reset my miles driven on the trip, the average economy, fuel used. Right after I reset the average economy, it reschedules it back to the EPA estimate for the vehicle, which is 20mpg. Then as I drive, it moves higher or lower depending on how I am doing.

Re: Fuel Gauge/warning/ first tank overall consumption
Thanks all for your feedback,
Our city roads are not that great lots of holes and bumps, so this affects the regenarative braking for sure.
Also the capital Amman where I live is not flat at all, lots of up and down hills.
add to that my short frequent trips.
but still 14 MPG no matter what is too low for a hybrid rated in the city 20 mpg.
will give some time, and hope the numbers get better with time.
Thanks all

Ken,
I never had a 2009 Tahoe, My Tahoe was supposed to be 2009, then the production was delayed, and I ended up getting 2010 instead

Re: Fuel Gauge/warning/ first tank overall consumption
I had refilled my third tank today after low Fuel warning.
The following is my Data:
Total Trip since last fill up:502 Km, about 200 km highway the rest City driving.
Added fuel: 77.94 liters. I made sure to fill it up to the max this time.
Odomoneter :950 KM
fuel used based on DIC 72.4 liters
remaining fuel range based on DIC: 85 km
avg fuel consumption based on DIC 14.4 L/100 Km =15.15 MPG very dissapointing for a hybrid, close to regular tahoe in city driving.
If I had not driven 200 Km on the highway, I would have even much worse consumption( around 17 l/100km)
I have been driving it again very lightly, no hard acceleration, with economy needel in the middle green zone, and trying to keep it in EV mode as much as I can.
looking forward for your feedback
Regards

Re: Fuel Gauge/warning/ first tank overall consumption
Guss for what it is worth I drive long distances and have never seen this low a mileage. I know that when I arrive in a large city like Ottawa, Montreal, or Toronto and get into slow stop and go traffic I will have been on the road for at least 3 hours.
