Hello everyone. I have this 2004 GMC hybrid truck with bad hybrid batteries. Problem is, I can't find the batteries. They are special sized lead acid batteries. All of the dealers I have asked said they discontinued and there is no replacement mentioned. Do I have a really large paper weight? Why the frick would a company make a hybid using rare and one-off batteries and not keep them in stock. I guess they didn't expect the trucks to last 20 years.

Is it possible to use deep cycle batteries instead? I'm sure it will fry the batteries, but I thought it would be worth asking.

 

The batteries are 7 cell lead acid X3, so 42V. Good luck.

 

Just a start / stop system, I would probably find a nice wrecked "nonhybrid" donor truck and remove all the hybrid parts from mine and use the donor parts to change it back to a std truck. Just need a garage with a lift and a bunch of tools and of course a bunch of spare time. .
