Was $2.89 at 8:00AM this morning at most stations here in Chicago, now it's $3.31.
One of the stations I saw was "out" of regular unleaded. Then again, if they stop selling regular unleaded, they will be able to empty the other tanks & get new shipments of the more expensive gas.
The shame of this is that this is all artificial. There is NO reason for the high prices or "shortage".

20 or so "missing" (sunken, likely) oil rigs, gas hubs, damaged refinery, infrastructure... all that expense gets passed on to the customer. I wouldn't say it's artificial, but neither would I say it's fair, although it is doing good if it forces people to think about over consumption.

Filled up 2 days ago with regular 87 oct. @ $3.09/gallon. That's here in Nebraska. Me thinks the 10% Ethanol blend was 2.99, and premium could only be purchased via a loan. Seriuosly, they had a loan officer at my Philip 66 all night

As for N.O. its a bloody wreck. His family members have been coming in for the last 36 hours to oklahoma. half to New Ibera and half here. None are going back to N.O. there done with living in a bowl and putting up with the insanity from the black folks.. of which is seen in the unlawful actions most are doing and can conferm the police where losing the battle before the cane hit. But N.O. is getting all the press.
I have family in Miss. and Bama. My baby brother and his family are ok. and accepted the burded of living there and he built a water tight vault with fuel, gen, food and supplys. Hes leaving Miss. and coming home. Only folks that are unrule again are blacks that spend there checks at the casino's and didnt prepair. Cousin in Bama is done also. Same thing, folks blowing money and not accepting where they live and expecting a hand out.
I dont mean for this to be rasict post. But Im sure it will be taken as that. I hate this disaster. My family has been touched by it. Ive heard of folks dead from N.O. to the florida panhandel. but only N.O. is getting the Bush bashing press. Typical of our system. **** the truth lies full steam ahead.
Also all the oil released by the gov. and whats coming in is near useless. We dont have the refinery cap. to make gas at the demand. Theres no shortage of crude and never has been. Tulsa's refinerys and Ponca Citys refinerys are at full production and Houston is kicking ***. The shortage is a result of greedy oilie ceo's, stock holders, and the EPA.
As for the other problems folks whine about. I sure wish they would look at all the plastic in the hybrid cars and the puters that they spudder all there greenie stuff on or about. Really fuel is only a part of the whole problem. A pound of plasic cost more to make than a gallon of gas.
Sorry for my rant,, Im sure a digital beaning will be forth coming. and thats ok,,, just think abit... Ive seen alot of folks in a rut here and at the pump, at the bank in wal-mart. Most start with a solution and many dont know the cause. Atleast some here so look at the cause. But not as a whole. Its a shame

What I will say is that it's off-topic, deliberately confrontational, and has no place here. If you cared so much about the people in N.O. as you claim, your compassion wouldn't be limited to one color.

Re: what are gas prices at for you?
I filled up on Sunday at $2.56. It's now to $3.19 which is just boggling my mind. This is in Dallas, Texas. Thankfully no shortages, but there have been plenty of irrational lines. I don't know why more people don't just stay up late one night and fill up after 10pm.
