That article has been very thoroughly refuted, before.

You blame the entire environmental cost of running the nickel plant for 200 years, on Toyota. In reality, Toyota buys about 1% of the output of that plant, and most of the environmental damage was done long ago.

The transportation cost issue is similar. The car is made in Tennessee. Some of the parts are imported. The fuel, for all kinds of cars, is mostly imported. The part-transportation cost is also about the same, for all cars of about the same weight.
