Subaru greenwashing fuel economy figures

It's a shame, but it's true: the car gets less than 20mpg city and 25-27mpg on the highway in most configurations, but they are advertising the 31mpg (highway - but they don't stress that too hard) of just one model.
How long will people continue to be fooled by this sort of marketing?
