Default Ford Mustang: 85 MPG from 85% ethanol

A modified 1989 Ford Mustang gets 85 MPG from E85, which is 85% bioethanol.

That's very impressive.
Note that the article states it would get 100mpg if using "regular" gasoline, and 85mpg on E-85.

So how feasible are his plans to actually produce these modified engines, I wonder?

An independent review is needed. If one is sharp, they will develop questions about this report in regards to the statement E85 produced 85% the mileage of gasoline. Without getting too technical, it is a fact that alcohol based engines are more efficient than gasoline based engines.

This is the same guy who showed up on ecomodders touting an E85 burning, 110mpg, 400hp mustang. It turned out that he was playing the MPGe (equivalent) game also played by some promoters of PHEV's. We calculated that he was only counting the petroleum portion of the E85, so if he used 10 gallons of E85 he was counting it as 1.5 gallons of "gas" (since the ethanol portion was renewable energy, it obviously didn't count).
