Question Determing mileage for part of a tank?

I'm wondering if someone can help me with a pretty inconsequential question. ;-)

I don't own a Prius (yet), but had the chance to borrow one for an evening and I'm curious what sort of mileage I managed to achieve.

The Prius had 160 miles on it when I picked it up and the Avg. MPG was 38.4. When I returned the Prius it had 220 miles and the Avg. MPG was up to 41.4.

So...how can I determine what my mileage was for the 60 miles I drove it?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

My wife (I'm really bad at math) figured out the answer to my question!

The Prius had 160 miles (approx.) on it when I picked it up yesterday and the MPG was 38.4. When I returned it this morning it had 220 miles and the MPG was 41.4.

After following my wife's figures I determined I got 52.6 MPG. See below for details.

160 miles / 38.4 MPG = 4.17 gallons used when I picked up the Prius.

220 miles / 41.4 MPG = 5.31 gallons used when I returned the Prius.

5.31 - 4.17 = 1.14 gallons used while I had the Prius.

60 miles / 1.14 gallons = 52.6 MPG.

That's all approximate of course, but I thought that was pretty good. These figures are all from the MFD too - which I know can be kind of "optimistic" - but all in all I was pleased with how I did.

Now I just need to wait for our own Prius to be able to practice all the time. ;-)

When I was doing my UPS experiments, I needed to measure the fuel consumption without the car being in motion. I used the same technique:
