Another MPG drop thread
Hi, my first visit here. I've perused this and other sites searching for an answer to WHY has my mpg dropped so dramatically on my Camry Hybrid? After the infamous gas pedal/something else recall my mileage dropped from city 35-36 to around 28. Searching led me to a procedure for resetting the ISC (idle speed control), involving fully charging the battery pack with the engine, standing on one leg, little finger in left ear, and other aspects I've forgotten, and my mpg did go back up, but only to city 32 or so...this was a year or so ago. Highway mileage was in the 36-37 range after the ISC reset.
About three or four weeks ago my mileage plummeted to around 28 again. I did the reset procedure, but there was no effect.
Car has 62,000 miles, no tire change recently, all normal maintenance performed on schedule, no changes, really, other than the drop. Texas gas, which hasn't changed, as far as I know, in the recent past, 10% ethanol.
I'm suspicious of the 12V battery: it's five years old now, but I can't imagine how it affects mpg.
I realize this is a frequent question...thanks in advance for advice.
