Any suggestions for a replacement front cat for this car? I am in New York and I'm told it's a California emission vehicle and the dealer is telling me that only a Honda replacement cat for $1144 will be correct. My engine light is on and the car will not pass inspection until this is fixed. Is there an alternative to the Honda factory replacement that will pass? Thanks.

 

Check out BKHondaparts.com for your convertor and get a local tech to install it (takes about 1.5 hours). By the way, New York is the only state besides California that requires an OEM convertor but in NY it is ONLY if the car originally came with a 50 state exhaust. If it was sold with a 49 state exhaust, your convertor would be less than $200 for the part itself.

 

How would I know if it has the 49 or 50 state emissions?

 

Check the emissions sticker under the hood.
