wrench light/service soon

Re: wrench light/service soon
I had mine (06 FEH AWD) in for a 'service soon' light. The first day they did the oil change, but didn't run the codes because the oil change guy decided that 'they all do that' when they need an oil change...
Got in the car to leave the dealership and the wrench light was still on.
Too late in the day to run the codes that day. Bring in back in the morning...
Next day they found that the hv battery A/C blender door actuator motor was bad. Replaced same under warranty and I'm good to go. Gas mileage has jumped back to earlier highs. Woo Hoo!
Anyhow, the service tech said that the number one wrench light cause was the drive by wire throttle connection, either at the throttle body or at the pedal.

Re: wrench light/service soon
I got a 2006 MMH about 2 months ago (32000 miles). About 45 miles into my purchase the service light wrench came on for about 20 minutes, then went off. It was raining at the time, maybe a glitch.
I took it in because i was getting it detailed, the dealer ran a diagnoses and said it didn;t even register a code and it should be fine.
Hasn't been on since.

Re: wrench light/service soon
Thanks for asking, i havent been on here for a while.
Yes, i finally took it in because it was staying on all the time. It ends up it was a part in the hybrid battery cooling system. It set me back about 200 bucks which isnt too bad, could have been worse i guess.
But all is good now.
Thanks!

Re: wrench light/service soon
I just wanted to chime in on this thread as my 08 FEH has a rench light on about a month ago. After a day at the dealer they replaced the battery door acuator (I think) and he cleaned my battery filter. This came at 10 months of ownership and a tough over 10K miles.

Re: wrench light/service soon
Did anybody have this service done while out of warranty? How much did it cost?
I just bought an 2006 Escape HEV and the wrench light kept coming on. I took it to the dealer and they looked at it and said it is the actuator door motor and the fans that need to be replaced. The quote is nearly $1000!

Re: wrench light/service soon
What state is the car in?
Does it have a clean title, or salvage title?
The warranty on the battery fans is 8 years / 100,000 miles in 42 states.
The warranty is 10 years / 150,000 miles in 8 states.
Since you are not over on years, are you over on miles?
If so, yeah, I would expect $1000.
Parts cheap, lots of labor though.
