GaryG brought to light that there is a separate, dedicated electric heater pump that sends hot water to the heater core on it's own loop IIRC.

How would a closed valve affect a running pump pushing against it?
Not the best situation, I would guess. But I will also guess you were un-aware of the separate pump.

Ford changed that in 08, the tweeters where moved from the sail panels to down in with the door speakers in the 08's (VERY STUPID move on Ford's part)

Not the best situation, I would guess. But I will also guess you were un-aware of the separate pump.

I was aware, just another senior moment.

If it is a centrifical pump no harm done.

If a positive displacement pump (unlikely) I would hope the fuse would pop first.

In any case the obvious thing to do would be open the pump circuit when the valve is closed. Assuming a centrifical pump, simply opening the pump circuit would not stop the flow with the ICE running and its pump working.
