The new Lexus LS 600h has A/C cooling of batteries to reduce noise.

I have long wondered why the Prius did not have ( need ) A/C battery cooling.
Maybe it does not carry as many amps?
Maybe it just shuts off when warm, and you get to use battery less often?
Maybe its physical shape or mounting location provides better ambient cooling?
Maybe Toyota does not expect it to last as many years?
( Do "green" states like California require a 10 year battery on all hybrids? )
Is the case for a Prius battery a heat sink in itself?
I have NEVER felt the Ford HV battery get warm to the touch, even though the internal sensors were saying like 35'C ( 95'F ). So I think the Ford battery case is well insulated.
