Default taking '06 FEH for service - anything I should ask for

Taking my '06 FEH in for its 10k service. Just wondering if there is anything I should ask them to do that they otherwise wouldn't do on a 10k service for the FEH. For instance, any sort of software update/flash?

thanks

If you haven't done so already, you should ask them about the "Customer Satisfaction Program" mentioned in this thread

How on Earth have you only got 10,000 miles on your '06? I've had my '08 6 1/2 months and hit 9000 miles yesterday. I haven't even taken a trip in it yet. Just commuting.

You might consider flushing the brake fluid. Brake fluid is hygroscopic and over time it will absorb mositure and start a corrosion in the brake system. It will also lower the boiling point of the brake fluid, this could be an issue in the mountains. Make sure they use the full synthetic 5w20 engine oil, they make a semi-sythetic also for the non-hybrids. You didnt state where you live so I dont know what else to recomend

I live in the DC metro area. No extremely long cold spells or warm spells during the year.

As for the low miles, well we got the FEH in mid 2006 so I've only had it for about 18 months, and I don't take too many long trips in it. Just commute 26 miles to work each day (round trip), plus some driving on weekends around town.

Oh and I actually have 11,800 miles, not 10k. I am just late on the 10k service

Scott -

I've attached the maintenance schedule from the shop manual for the 2006 FEH. I know my dealer changed the HVBattery A/C filter at 10K.

At 10,000 miles they are supposed to check air filter for the traction battery, but at 20,000 miles make sure they change the air filter. It is located in the drivers side cargo area.

Here is a tip. Tell them NOT to top off the brake fluid!

Some of us live closer to work and/or our other destinations than others. My '06 FEH has under 15k, and I drive it just about every single day (not always on weekends)... and it's been on a trip from San Antonio to Dallas, Texas, once and a couple trips half that distance, as well. Like the original poster, though, we bought it in mid-2006 (April) not at the beginning of the year. And if you know San Antonio, you know the city's not planned well and you can easily drive all over creation to run errands, go to doctor visits (lots of those the past 18 mos. thanks to pregnancy, childbirth, and now well-baby checkups), visit family and friends, etc. I do plan my trips well though, compared to my neighbors who are retired and I see hop into their vehicle at LEAST six to eight times a day, often returning quickly only to hop back in their vehicle again in 30 minutes.

For what it's worth, when we sold my 1992 Toyota Corolla in August 2006, it still had under 100k miles (91,324 miles, exactly) and that's despite six months commuting 5-6 days a week literally across town for a temporary position I had right out of college. It was my first vehicle and I really didn't drive it a lot in college (saving $$).

My husband commutes the furthest of the two of us, and his 2001 Ford F-150 still has under 75k miles...and that one's hauled us to Rocky Mountain National Park on several occasions, as well as many trips to the Texas Coast, Arkansas, New Mexico, far West Texas (Big Bend National Park), etc.
