"Stop Safely Now"
I have joined the SSN club - we are being told to replace the hybrid coolant pump. Error codes that the dealership is citing are: pa1oef, pa1oe3c, pa1oe3e, pa1oe7a, pa1oe7c, pa1oenod. Any insight on these codes?
Sorry, no insight on the codes but the pump is easy to replace (or you can see my previous message and try cleaning out the dry part of the pump yourself.) I'd take their advice and go ahead and replace/repair.
I'm running at 104k miles, and this was the original pump and I'm still on the original 12V battery for a 2008 MMH, so I figure I was due.
Ironically, we made the last car payment on this thing this month, so I guess it's the car's way of thanking us.
I don't know how Ford can justify that price for a MECS pump replacement. Even at full msrp for the pump that's still something like $500/hr for labor. I would get another quote from an independent shop. There's nothing hybrid specific about replacing that pump, no bleeding necessary, nothing to reprogram, no codes to clear, nothing electronic involved. It's an easy DIY and the pump is readily available under $200 delivered.

This^^^. The pump is so easy to replace the quoted price the OP received is tantamount to theft.

You could literally buy an entire garage's worth of tools, replace it yourself, and still come out ahead versus giving all that cash to the stealership. You don't even need a lift or jack stands to replace the MECS pump, just slide under, drain the coolant, replace the part, refill the coolant (might as well do the thermostat while you're at it too), and you're done. You can even buy a replacement pump off Amazon for less than $150 shipped.
i have been having the blessed STOP SAFELY NOW PROBLEM on my MMH 06 going for more than a month now. going from what i have been reading here i ordered the mecs pump even though the one on was not the original so it had been changed once atleast. i changed the pump and virtually no difference. i am living in belize so its always warm here. during the day the vehicle cant run for maybe 20 minutes before the light comes on and the engine shuts off. i changed the pump on thursday, on friday it was already giving the same problems so this time i went to a mechanic. he believes the thermostat wasnt working even though when we took it off it had no apparent defects. we could only find the thermostat for the 2007 FEH but apparently its the same part. we installed the part and took it for a test drive but still the same problems.
i did notice that there are alot of gas bubbles in the degas bottle. i pulled the drain plug from the top of the transaxle casing but only coolant came out.
any and all input would be greatly appreciated since neither the mechanic nor my self can find anything that could be causing the problem.
note that this problem is only during the day, at night the vehicle generally can run for an hour and i havnt had it shut down, making me believe that something to do with temperature regulation is involved.
