I talked to Ron for quite a while today, he's a real nice guy.

Apparently, these problems we are having ONLY occur with Hybrid Escapes.

My original SG still works perfectly on my FEH but he said that has a totally different chip design.

Just an update here on my 2nd ScanguageII. Except for the first day I have not had any problems at all (knock on wood). After the first time it locked up I tried something. I went to the settings for mode and told the unit that it was hooked up to a CANSF rather than Automatic. I don't know if that is what allegedly fixed it or not but it's been 4 days now. John, have you gotten your replacement unit yet?

Hi Bill

That very well may have been your problem. I don't recall auto as a setting on my SG 1, but I've always had mine set for CANSF and the highest speed setting. Let's hope that was the only problem. If you remember, many did not know the Hybrid setting was under "type of fuel" and that also made the SG mess up because they set it for "gas".

Hi John

Is it possible you may have set your SG 11 to automatic also? The setup is very important and can make the SG malfunction if not setup properly.

I thought when I read this that there is the problem as I don't ever remember changing that setting. I just went out & checked it however & it was set to CANSF.

I beleive that unless you force it to cansf by hitting the force button it will still be automatically seeking everytime it turns on. That being the problem since it tries to negotiate a connection sometimes when you simply open the car door and the brakes go thru their charge up routine.. The lock up used to always occur at that time at least in my case. Just a thought

That is the only time mine locks up also. How do you "force" the setting??

When I checked mine & it was already set to CANSF, I didn't see anything to change??

On the same screen that you selected CANSF the bottom right of the screen says force, on mine at least.
