ScanGauge 4WD Indication ?

ScanGauge 4WD Indication ?
I have the 4WD XGauge programmed into my SGII, and it has always indicated OFF as I would expect from paved road driving. But today I got into some mud/snow on hills, and I'm certain that the 4WD must have been used as I could feel some wheel slippage at low speeds. At no time did I get an ON indication, and I was watching closely for any change.
Has anyone seen the SGII 4WD XGauge actually indicate ON? If so, does the SG latch the indication ON for a few seconds or is it just a momentary indication?
Thanks for any info.

Re: ScanGauge 4WD Indication ?
The shop manual for the 2006 4WD Escape (non-hybrid) has lots of discussion of the 4WD indicator and when it displays, etc., etc., blah, blah.
But I have taken my FEH on a grassy hill in the summer and punched the accelerator pedal after starting to roll back (inducing certain front wheel slip) and watched the dash board lights as the rear wheels are engaged the truck starts up the hill - and nothing - no lights, no symbols, no message in the message center.
I believe Ford diabled the indicator feature that is present in the non-hybrids for the FEH design. Possibly as a design trade-off for some other warning feature?

Re: ScanGauge 4WD Indication ?
You are NEVER supposed to see any 4x4 message on the FEH.
If you do, that is a warning of a problem.
There are 3 messages* that I am aware of:
Service 4x4
4x4 disabled
4x4 locked
In any case, this is a case of "no news is good news".
4x4 locked means there was a problem with disengaging the 4x4 and you are in full time 4x4 mode... which is not a desired mode!
*This was only from reading, I do not own a 4x4

Re: ScanGauge 4WD Indication ?
Correct, except there is an Xgauge 4WD setting that says on or off. No matter whet ou do, it reads off.

Re: ScanGauge 4WD Indication ?
I can't get it to work either. 2007 MMH in 1 foot of snow. I could tell by the tracks that it was engaged, but the 4WD indicator still said off. Perhaps it updates to slow in order to give a reading. Has anyone had this X-Gauge work?

Re: ScanGauge 4WD Indication ?
I posted this one as a flyer since it isn't listed for the FEH in the PC/ED manual. The PID I used was for the non-hybrid AWD, but they have a dash light for AWD and the FEH doesn't. I guess we can now assume it doesn't work for the FEH. Perhaps the bit is hidden in a different PID, but since I have a FWD it would be nearly impossible for me to find it.
