Does anyone have a fix? Will one of those rubber cargo mats fit directly on the rear battery (sans original carpet)? Can anyone recommend one?

Another possibility is to re attach the original carpet using lots of velcro strips on top of the battery. It's just aggrivating..

Any suggestions?

On another note....I filled up yesterday on my tip to NC for a wedding. First big interstate trip since BCM reflash (non-recall recall work). 31.5mph, cruise set at 70mph the entire way. WOW. About a 1-1.5mpg inc from where I normally am on this trip.

I did the velcro strips between it and the battery box in a couple spots along the edge. You need to notch out a few spots in the lining. Use the a real sticky back kind for outdoor mounting on brick. No sliding around since I did it.

#1 When did that TSB come out?
#2 What do they replace the old carpet with? How is the new one better?

I think I can still "Call them on the carpet" on this one, since I have 6yr/60k Extended "Bumper to bumper" plan.

Do you have the new and improved one?

#1, going by the TSB number, "06" means 2006. I know it was out before I ordered mine in August, 2006.

#2, Remember this is not a recall. TSB's are just helply service tips to the dealer service dept. As in this case, it is "if a customer comes in complaining about this.... try this".

If your extended warranty covers stuff like interior components like carpeting, then it should cover this.

Mine has an even newer P/N than what is given in the TSB. I don't remember the full P/N, but it starts with a "7" which means the carpet was redesigned yet again for the 2007 model year. I have no problems at all with the back cargo carpet, and I have had it a full year now.
