Default Power steering

I bought an 06 FEH with bad power steering. I replaced the power steering control module as Ive read that this is a common failure. The one I bought has a different part number (the original starts with "6m64" and the new one starts with "5m64") The module didn't fix it. Can these modules be interchanged? I used a piece of 12 ga wire to jump a battery to the motor connector and the motor runs, so I can assume that the motor is good. Any advice on this is appreciated, I am totally new to hybrid cars but I do have an extensive background in electronics.
Thanks
