Just to update the forum on the topic of EV mode. I went and started it, turned defrost off and turn on ECON. And what do you know, everything is working just as its supposed to. It was about 40 degrees outside and when I came back 15 minutes later the engine was off, which I hadn't seen yet.

I was a little worried that the engine was constantly running to compensate for a bad battery in some form or another, but it seems to be functioning just fine.

Appreciate the help everyone!!

Per the linked owner's manual, page 6 describes conditions that may force the engine to run including defrost or defrost/floor mode.

ECON button only impacts A/C operation. ECON does not permit engine operation solely for the purpose of A/C. The manual indicates that ECON cannot be selected when in defrost or defrost/floor mode.

AUTO mode typically works best for both economy and comfort. Simply change the set temp as needed. Override with defrost as needed and use ECON if desired when A/C is needed.

"Floating" NiMH batteries actually degrades them. While deep discharge can be very inconvenient, it's actually good for the cells in most cases.

That's truly the best option... just keep driving them.

No. The Mouser PS will destroy the battery if left connected. It's peak voltage is higher than the 100% charged voltage of the battery, so it will just keep pumping current into it even after the battery has cried "MERCY."

As per above, there is no value in "floating" NiMH. If you have a re-charge option available, best to just let it discharge as it will do and conduct a single charge upon placing it back into service.

I suspect Forscan would run under Wine. Would definitely run under Bootcamp.

Hmmm, I havent found the AUTO setting yet, but I would guess you get it by setting the temp until it read AUTO all the way up or down. Ill read up on it. Thanks
