Default Need to find a way to protect the lower condensor.

Everyone,

My Mercury Mariner just hit 1200 miles. I was installing my deer whistle warnings, and I noticed my condensor has already taken 2-3 stone hits. I have taken the front license bracket off, but it doesn't do much to protect the condensor. The radiator isn't very well protected either. Does anyone have any ideas on how to protect it without reducing airflow?

See attached photo.

How about using a strip of hardware cloth (1/4 inch mesh), spray painted flat black? When I was devising a removable radiator block, I found that a rectangular piece (of anything) sits nicely on the lower radiator support. You can lower it in from the top if you pull a couple of grill attaching screws.

I once used screen door mesh cut-to-size and then heavy-duty stapled to 1"x1"s on each end. I then modified bungie cords to hold the 1"x1"s apart to form a taught section of screen. It was very rough but was hidden and designed to keep bugs out of a Camry condensor.
