I was similarly PO'd when I got my '07 FEH. The brochure was not specific on MP3 paying or iPod hook up so I phoned the Customer Service number from the Ford Website. I clearly stated that I was ordering the Nav system and she assured me that it would play MP3 CDs and have an iPod input. Of course neither are there and I have no proof that the conversation ever took place.

However, as detailed in the MP3 hook up sticky thread, I am now delighted with my PIE hook up, which was just $130 and installed in 5 minutes.

EDIT: I've just noticed that right here in the GH wiki: https://www.greenhybrid.com/wiki/index.php/Ford_Escape_Hybrid the Nav system is reported as having MP3 capability.

 

I have a stock 07 MMH and it plays MP3 CDs just fine...if you burn them as HighMat MP3 128k sample rate. I do however share your concern with the brochure stating that the system would play MP3s with no further explanation. In my Prius, it meant an audio jack...not on the MMH!

 

Also...the Prius plays WMA and MP3 CDs. The MMH will only play MP3.

 

The question of playing MP3's is with regard to the Hybrid/Nav system. The other radios Ford sells I believe are capable of playing MP3 cd's. No one has yet been able to get an MP3 CD to play on the Nav/Hybrid radio.

 

Where did you get the info that the MMH will play MP3? It has been tried and does not work.

 

Just to also help clear up things... please state if you are talking about the in-dash CD or the under-seat CD changer. The in-dash CD is digitally connected to the rest of the system, whereas the under-seat CD changer is connected by only analog.

 

I believe he is referring to the regular radios NOT the Hybrid/Nav radio.

 

The 07 FEH Nav unit DOES NOT play MP3's. I had Ford install an MP3 player under the passenger seat. It fit right behind the stock CD changer. Now I have Nav cd in dash, 6 CD changer under the seat and a 10 disc MP3 player under there as well. It all works great and sounds great too. It can be done. I told them it was a deal breaker if it didn't play MP3's! It worked.

 

All I can speak to is a 2007 MMH withOUT the nav system (my wife let me buy that on the Prius, but having to replace another car within 6 months...well, you get the picture).

 

Do you happen to have the Ford P/N for the 10 disc MP3 player they installed (possibly found on some receipt)?
