The PC/POD2 does not interfere at all with control on the iPod itself--you have complete control of the iPod on the iPod itself and the limited control from the head unit itself. The older PC/POD is the one that locks out the controls on the iPod.

It's no different switching from the iPod to the radio or anything else on the nav system with the iPod interface than if you had the CD changer hooked up. You can switch back and forth at will, and I frequently do.

The X3 will work for you in that it will allow you to connect your iPod (using the headphone jack, not the dock connector) but you won't have any control of the iPod from the head unit and it won't charge the iPod.

Yes the POD2 doesn't interfere with your IPOD control except for volumne & EQ which aren't neccesary when hooked up to your head unit. From the head unit your only IPOD control is forward & back in single tracks at a time. All your other functions operate on the IPOD.So, I placed my IPOD up on an AC vent clip mount right next to the radio,it's easy to reach and not a danger looking down while driving.

Actually, the lack of volume and EQ controls when using the dock connector are normal for the iPod, not the fault of the POD2. You can still change them but they only affect the headphone jack, not the line out in the dock connector.

also, for taking the pin cable out, do you just pull it? i was looking at it the other day, and i wasnt sure whether to just pull it, i couldnt see any clips on it, and didnt feel like breaking it :p

crazy, I have both the cable and the pie interface that I would let you have cheap. I upgraded to a Kenwood DNX-7100 with full ipod support, so I no longer need it... PM Me.

OK, could someone give me a little clarity here.

I have a 2006 FEH with the nav system and the CD changer under the passenger seat. Which interface do I need to purchase in order to hook up my IPOD to my stereo with an actual wire, and not via a FM station?

Is it the PIE FRDW/PC-POD2 ?

thanks!

Yes, the PIE FRDW/PC-POD2 is the one you want.

More success with PIE FRDW/PC-POD2 . Followup: Thanks everyone. For my 2006 FEH w/ Nav & Underseat CD Changer, I ordered PIE FRDW/PC-POD2 from Cardomain (received it in one day) and installed in five minutes. Works flawlessly, sounds great. Two points. Installation instructions advised disconnecting the battery before installing-- probably a prudent idea but I did not disconnect the battery, I just unplugged and replugged the underseat wiring harness. No problems, but YMMV. Only thing I might have done differently is EJECT the CD's from the car's changer prior to unplugging the changer-- with no power hookup, the CD magazine won't eject. No big deal, I don't need the CDs now and I'll get them later.

I've got a FRDW/PC-POD for sale (the one I mentioned earlier in this thread.) It's just a year old and has been used exclusively in my 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid FWD. I am upgrading to the PC-POD2 (only difference is the ability to still use the iPod's controls; both charge the iPod, are controllable from the stock NAV radio, etc.)

PM me here with your best offer before June 10, otherwise it's going up on eBay after that date.
