I believe it is based on the state in which the title is listed.

So if the title is transferred into a 'Green' state while the vehicle is still within the warranty terms (time/mileage), then it should be valid.
My FEH was purchased in NH and registered/titled in MA, so it's valid.

I would double check with your Ford dealer, just to be sure.

Thank you everyone! I bought my FEH in Columbia, Maryland and I live in Washington, D.C. So far, I have opted for the Service Maintenance Plan ($1240). It's a gamble; we have a '01 Ford Focus and did some quick addition of non-warranty servicing and got up to $710 in the receipts we could find.

I was offered the Premium 6ys/75K Extended Warranty for $1310 ($50 deductible) but did not take him up on it yet. The finance person claims that they only make $300 on this warranty; at that moment I believed him.

It's only been a couple of days and I do love my car (maybe I should not love an object like this?... o'well!). Wish me luck. I am almost 40 and this is my first new car. So far my experience with the dealership has been pleasant.

The "green" warranty is based on the VIN number. The VIN number tells where the vehicle was originally shipped to.

I bought mine in CA but live in CO. I will have the CA VIN number for life, no matter where I live. I get to keep the 10 year, 150,000 warranty on Hybrid parts.

However, I will need to return the vehicle to CA if I need warranty service past 8 years, 100,000 miles.

I got a 6 year, 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty ( $0 ded ) from the dealer at time of purchase for $1600. Admittingly, I didn't shop around for this one, but got my 2005 under MSRP at a time they were selling with mark-up, so it probably all balances out.
