My FEH is equipped with the SAT compatible 6CD in dash...basically the baseline stereo system. I would like to use my IPOD in the vehicle at some point and unfortuneately FM transmitters are useless in the Bay Area. I was wondering if anyone knew whether the AUX button, which Ford says in not operational, could be used to put a basic RCA or Line-in set-up in place? I noted that the AUX button was dedicated to DVD aftermarket apps in previous Escape audio systems. I have seen a few RCA set-ups which plug right into the Satelitte jack but I am considering adding that system too. I want my cake, and I want to eat it too. Any help anyone could share would be much appreciated.

 

SAT compatible... AUX button? That doesn't sound like the baseline system to me (which I had).... but maybe they changed it on the '06.

If it is one step up from the base model, you may have other options, but if it is the base model, an FM modulator (not transmitter) will definitely work. It's what I used before upgrading the whole system.

I did try a PIE interface that plugged right in, but it didn't work. At the time there were other people trying PIE solutions but they were unreliable at best. There may be some out now that work, but I stopped following the topic after I upgraded my system.

Thanks for the ideas...I may just have to go this route. I really did want to do satellite too. I hate having that unused button up there. It has got to be functionally active somehow. At least I have options. Thanks!
