Not really. As Gary said, the 12v battery does very little on the FEH/MMH. The benefit on the FEH will be the same as the benefit you get from maintaining the battery on any vehicle....the battery lasts longer and you don't have to replace it.
Also, as Gary said, the 12V battery CAN be used to juice up the HV battery if it runs down below the starting limit. That will probably never happen to you or anyone else who drives an FEH/MMH. I think you'd have to leave it parked for a month undriven to get the battery that low. The 40%-60% numbers are the ideal range the battery is programmed to stay between. If it drops below 40% while driving the ICE will start in order to charge it up further. This has nothing to do with the 12V battery charging the HV battery. That is a special, manual jumpstart procedure.
