Default HELP!! Air Conditioning issues 2008 ford escape.

I am having some problems with my A/C. It works fine while the engine is on (like it is supposed to) but I can not figure out how to make the engine stay on at a stop in traffic for the sole purpose of AC. right now it is 98 degrees outside and I am trying to figure out to not melt. No matter what setting I use like defrost, foot, face; or what temperature I set it to, I can not get the engine to stay on. any advice would help.

I'm not sure about the 2008, but in my 2007, anything that is marked in orange on the A/C setting **** should keep the ICE (engine) running. So if you turn it to MAX A/C the ICE should stay on...

That is what I thought..... Even in those settings (which on my dash are orange to let you know) the A/C Will not keep the engine running.

Turn off the ECON button on the bottom center of the panel.
