Ford Dealer REFUSING to Honor 8 Year/100,000 Mile Warranty on High Voltage Battery
Gator. This is awesome help. But how did you get to drive away without paying for the repairs? Can I post a bond in Louisiana if I am an out of state resident.
Yes they are definitely stonewalling at the customer service level. I can't even get to a level 2 superviser.
I believe 100 % now we are in the right. What about BBB or the Lemon Law?
thx, Dave.

Well, sadly but as expected, my car has a new water pump, new mode door actuator, and was reprogrammed... and after warming up the ICE doesn't shut off. I'm ready to scream.
It only did that a couple days last week before taking it to Dealer #1, but after I retrieved it from them it worked fine, but the wrench light came on again. So I took it to Dealer #2 who did the above work, and now it's back. What the heck! Tech says maybe it lost something in the programming. Whatever. Back to the shop on Monday.
So, you're darn right Scott, I will once again be trying to get my fans that they should have replaced from the beginning AND a refund for that stupid pump.
I've owned four different Ford models and I'm so disappointed with them now this will probably be the last.

Sorry to hear about the ongoing mess.
If we're seeing this many problems with the cooling fans warranty on this forum (that people have to search to find), can you imagine the number of people who are having this problem that we don't even know about (and are paying for something that they should not have to pay for)??????

Yea man, it's still ongoing. I'm letting Robinson Bros. Ford fix my MECS pump (550$). Then I am going to take it to All-Star Ford in Baton Rouge for another assessment re: the HV battery fans. I actually called them Sat., and told Lacy from Service that I needed to get my battery diagnosed. that I had the emergency triangle come on, and I think there are overheating issues.I asked her if hybrid components "inside" the battery were covered under warranty and she looked it up and said yes.
However I think she will put it on the diagnostic machine and it will read "cooling fan Part # etc..., and I will hear the same spiel, i.e. "we entered the part # and it says NO". But at least I planted the seed of doubt with our first conversation.
Wish me luck. Any more advice is appreciated. Gator I was curious how you got your repairs done without paying them? Do you have to deliver the papers to sue at the time of picking up your car? Thx Dave.

So I have to go pick up my FEH from Robinson Bros. Ford. All they did was replace the MECS cooling pump at a total cost of $589. Seems very high and they said my $100 diagnostic was also put toward the cost of repair. Are you telling me that it would have cost $689?! I priced the part online and it was only about 200 max. plus they said labor was about 1.3 hours. What is wrong with this picture.
I am now going to take it to All-Star Ford and see what they say about the HV Battery Fans. Not very optimistic....

Remember, go back and get that $100 diagnostic fee after we make Ford cover those fans!

Go back and read post 26 again...that explains it. (You really need to read both of the threads on this issue in their entireties.) Under Florida law I was able to post a cash bond with the Clerk of the Court for the full amount of the invoice plus a small service fee. The clerk issued a Certificate directing the dealer to release the car to me or face criminal and/or civil penalties. The dealer complied and suddenly figured out how to get it covered under warranty by the next day. My money will be released to me after 60 days since the dealer has graciously decided not to sue me.
I am NOT licensed to practice law in Louisiana, but I did a quick search of its laws for you to see if there was a similar bond procedure. I couldn't find one, but you should check with a Louisiana lawyer to be sure if you want to go that route. Don't even think about stop paying a check after you get your vehicle back...that is illegal in most, if not all, states.
My case number is 1552992901. (other people's who have been successful: 1613570262, 1653931871 and 1461231671)
Autumn is the level 2 person assigned my case. She was supposed to have called me by 6 PM yesterday, but she did not. I left a message with her today to call me. At this point all I'm trying to accomplish with her is to get the part number or person needed to get these repairs authorized under warranty for others so you don't have to go through this crap. The gentleman I spoke with today seemed quite surprised I was still trying to speak with her after my situation was resolved. After I explained the above to him several times and let him know I was not simply going to go away, he left the message for her.
Try to get your case elevated to level 2 (Autumn, if possible) as quickly as possible. While I have not yet found her to be particularly helpful, she does have payment authorization and should be familiar with the issue. Also, keep steering your dealer to the battery part number as opposed to the cooling fan kit number. Unless something has changed in the last week that part number will only show it's covered under the 3/36K BTB warranty, not the unique hybrid component warranty.
So I will recap another weird day at the Ford Dealers.
In previous posts I described how the first Ford Service dept. said I needed a coolant pump and a HV battery fan replaced. After much quibbling about warranty coverage I told them to replace the pump only, and I will take it for a second diagnosis.
Well I did and this Ford dealer says I need a new MECS Pump, HV battery fan, and a few other things (fuel injectors cleaned etc.)
The good news is!....with them I am now covered for my fans under the battery warranty, not only that but will replace the WHOLE battery.
I eventually asked if battery's were expensive, I thought they were about $9,000 at least? She said no, for your car they were about 1500 and 1900
total with labor. So I thought that was weird?
Then she said the pump would be about $500. So I finally told her that I JUST HAD the pump replaced. She asked what is the part#? So I read the receipt from the other Ford dealer and gave her # 5M6Z 8C419 A, which is the exact pump pictured here in Billy K's post(#34). Now is that for the engine or, the battery cooling system?!
So I called the first dealer back and he said it was the pump to the ENGINE. I said to him that I was led to understand it was the cooling pump to the BATTERY you were replacing?! He said know this is what the diagnostic showed. So I said that I'm having a second diagnostic being done right now and they say I need a MECS cooling pump that goes to the battery! He also wanted to know where I was taking it but I didn't tell.
So now I'm thoroughly confused: Yes they are replacing my battery because of the fans, and yes I need another pump replaced. But is the Pump pictured in post#34 for the engine or for the battery?
One of these dealers is not being forthcoming or my computer system is sending false codes? And I have run the car hard across the country last year.
Sorry for the long post but now I have to go ahead and replace the "other" pump along with a complete battery. I guess I have a partial victory with the "warranty" coverage at least.
If someone could set me straight on the "Pumps" engine/battery it would be much appreciated. Hope this helps someone as well. Thx, Dave.

That part number is the Motor Electronics Cooling System (MECS) pump.
