Default Engine/Hood Sound Proofing on FEH?

Hello,

Has anybody installed an aftermarket hood sound-deadening liner, to reduce engine noise on the 2009 FEH? Yes, my FEH is running well--normal engine noise. Thanks in advance.

Is that where the noise is coming from? I was under the impression it was exhaust noise here.

FWIW, I opted for undercoating and I believe that helps with the road noise.

I can not speak for the 2009 version but on my 2005 I added dynaliner to the underside of the hood to help quiet down the noise. Better yet, during my upgrading of the sound system, I added dynaliner to each of the door panels, cargo door, side cargo panels, the firewall area under the dash and even under part of the carpet to help quiet the cabin area. Many audio stores carry this or you can look on e-bay for sale prices. The dynaliner comes in 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2 inch depth. I have seen photos of individuals removing the seats, carpeting, door and side panels and headliner to apply this or similar stuff to deaden the noise levels in the vehicle.

Did it make a difference?

This is an example of what one can do by removing various interior panels. This is dynamat material. My vehicle became quieter with the additional work I did. However, only you can determine if the change is worth the effort. It isn't too expensive if you are willing to do the work. It is almost a must thing to do if you are replacing speakers in the doors and elsewhere.
