Does eCVT have a parking pawl?

I am 99% sure it does. But it's important to verify that the transmission is actually going into Park when the shift lever is in Park. You can figure that out by looking at the cable end where it attaches to the transmission. The shifter is cable-actuated and the cable travels through the firewall and attaches to the transmission on the driver's side. The lever and cable connection on the transmission end is underneath the splash guard and then another black metal "brush cover" plate to prevent damage.
There's a video on the internet with a fellow whose Hybrid would not go into park even with the lever in Park, but it would still shift through the "gears." It's because the cable was bad and was not pushing the transmission control lever (under the plate) into Park all the way, never engaging the pawl. So the car was never really going into Park.
Look at this video from 3:13 on. HE removes the splash guard and then the "brush cover" on the transmission and you can see the cable end and lever, and you can move it with your hand through its full range.
Maybe yours is not working and the transmission is never really going into Park? If so, you move the detent lever into Park manually, make sure the pawl is engaging, and at that point you'd have to replace the cable, which is a chore, but it can be done, as his videos show.
I'm pretty sure that if it's not the cable, disassembling the transaxle to fix whatever is wrong inside is ** major surgery **.

You're welcome! Sometimes even the more complicated vehicles have relatively simple problems, like shifter cables that wear out.
