They are for a LATCH tether but since the FEH and MMH both have the LATCH anchors in the seats they are not necessary. The ceiling mounted anchors are for use when the car seat is anchored to the seat using the seatbelt method. I know because my son turns 1 tomorrow and gets to face forward so I just hooked it all up today. The seat LATCH connection is so tight that the carseat doesn't budge. Even the directions state that the ceiling tether is not needed when using the seat LATCH mounts. Also, you would have to remove the headrest to use it as the tether would have to stretch over the top of it otherwise.

Cargo-Logic: I really like the idea of putting Velcro holders anywhere you want. "Not available on Escape Hybrid."
To follow up on this, I noticed that the Nifty website lists Cargo-Logic for the 2007 Escape Hybrid. I contacted Nifty and they claimed the Cargo-Logic for the regular 2007 Escape would also fit the 2007 Escape Hybrid. I was skeptical since Ford claims it doesn't fit, but I ordered one from Amazon to try.

Much to my surprise, it does fit. The only difference in fit is that the factory mat is shaped so it covers the two crevices in the corners near the seat. The Cargo-Logic mat doesn't cover those two little crevices, if that matters to anyone.

My wife and I love the Velcro holders. They are stronger than we expected. We can put them anywhere we want to keep stuff from sliding around.

Thanks. I was wondering about that myself. Maybe I should remove them to save weight
