Can the 2008 navi play DVDs while parked?
I am not sure where I read this, but can the 2008 OEM navi play DVDs while the car is parked? I have 2009 MMH on order and hope this carries over if this is true. Also, is there an override to get this to work while in motion?

Re: Can the 2008 navi play DVDs while parked?
I have not tried inserting a DVD other than the NAV DVD. Maybe I'll try that later today.
I'm not aware of any hacks for the 08 NAV but, then again, I haven't looked very hard either. I'd love to find a way to disable the NAV nag screen or the lock that prevents (passengers) from entering a destination (or adding waypoints) while I drive. Why allow POI's but not addresses to be added?

"The ’09 Escape is available with Ford’s next-generation navigation-and-infotainment setup that includes Sync and available Sirius Travel Link, the latter of which offers real-time weather radar maps, sports scores, and movie listings. Travel Link also does a whole bunch of other cool stuff such as locating the cheapest and closest gas stations and linking with the nav system to get you there, or hooking up with your cell phone to make restaurant reservations. The system will let you watch a DVD (while parked, of course), rip MP3s to the 10-gig hard drive, and upload family photos to use as wallpaper."
