Default Exterior dimensions Re: C-Max Hybrid = 2013 Escape Hybrid ?

Item............................ 2013 Escape ..... 2013 C-Max

Height (in.)................... 66.3 ................ 63.8

Ground clearance (in.) .... 7.9 ................. 5.5

Net Height
(from ground clearance)...58.4 ................ 58.3

Length (in.) ................. 178.1 ............... 173.6

Wheelbase (in.) ............ 105.9 ............... 104.3

Width (in., with mirrors) .. 81.8 ................ 82.1
........(without mirrors).....66.3 ................. 63.8

Pretty darned similar overall except that the Escape has 4 or 5 inches more overhang in the front (other than hybrid powerplants apparently need more underhood space) and the Escape has a few more inches more ground clearance. (Possibly the C-max sits down lower on its springs as a result of the extra weight of hybrid batteries and components or for stability requirements with higher center of gravity).

No, haven't listed it yet. I was floored when my credit union told me trade-in was $18,500 - $19,500 and retail is above $23,000. I would take $18,000. It has 31,000 miles, has a matching Limited rim full spare, tint to match rear windows and holds the world record in lifetime MPG. I only used 5w-20 mobile 1 oil and OEM oil filters. Michelin Latitude Tours tires look almost new, fresh oil change and new OEM wiper blades ready to install. Black Pearl Slate with stone interior, sun roof, Nav and Sync. Never been in an accident.

PM me if you're interested before I list higher.

Conclusion: Weights and payloads are virtually identical.

The c-Max gives up 5 cu. ft. (seats up) to 10 cu. ft. (folded) to the Escape - an entirely reasonable result of the space taken up by batteries and associated ventilation. Interestingly, in spite of the weight of the batteries, the C-max does not give up any payload weight capacity.
If not for the battery pack the weights would not be that similar.

I will research the difference and revise my post accordingly.

I'm surprised the CMax is rated for zero weight towing. My FEH tows a 1500 pound trailer like nothing.

Lets face it, the C-Max and Energi is built for MPG and interior convenience. I had to have that rear hatch foot release and the new Escape and the C-Max can't have a hitch and have that system work.

I truly think a vehicle meant to tow, should offer a factory optional tow package. If I wanted a vehicle for towing, I'd buy a real vehicle for towing, such as my '11 Explorer. I think the new EB Escape has a tow package option that the FEH never had.

I'd agree if you need to do serious towing. But it is a real convenience to attach a little utility trailer like the ones from Harbor Freight to pick up a an appliance or do other light hauling jobs. A CMax type vehicle should be able to handle that easily.

The Highlander Hybrid is rated for 3500lbs towing, obviously it has a much more stout drivetrain/chassis. Interestingly, Toyota considers the hybrid to have the necessary transmission/engine cooling stock to handle towing.

So did the FE prior to 2013.
