C-Max Hybrid = 2013 Escape Hybrid ?
Item............................ 2013 Escape ..... 2013 C-Max
Height (in.)................... 66.3 ................ 63.8
Ground clearance (in.) .... 7.9 ................. 5.5
Net Height
(from ground clearance)...58.4 ................ 58.3
Length (in.) ................. 178.1 ............... 173.6
Wheelbase (in.) ............ 105.9 ............... 104.3
Width (in., with mirrors) .. 81.8 ................ 82.1
........(without mirrors).....66.3 ................. 63.8
Pretty darned similar overall except that the Escape has 4 or 5 inches more overhang in the front (other than hybrid powerplants apparently need more underhood space) and the Escape has a few more inches more ground clearance. (Possibly the C-max sits down lower on its springs as a result of the extra weight of hybrid batteries and components or for stability requirements with higher center of gravity).

Fractional inch differences for the most part.
Overall the passenger space is virtually identical.

Item ........................2013 Escape.... 2013 C-max Hybrid
Gross weight (lb) ........4620 ..............4621
Curb weight (lb) ........ 3515...............3607
Payload (lb) .............. 1105.............. 1014
Cargo space (cu. ft.)
seats up .................. 34.3............... 24.5
seats folded ..............67.8............... 52.6
Conclusion: Weights and payloads are virtually identical.
The c-Max gives up 5 cu. ft. (seats up) to 10 cu. ft. (folded) to the Escape - an entirely reasonable result of the space taken up by batteries and associated ventilation. Interestingly, in spite of the weight of the batteries, the C-max does not give up any payload weight capacity.

I will research the difference and revise my post accordingly.
I truly think a vehicle meant to tow, should offer a factory optional tow package. If I wanted a vehicle for towing, I'd buy a real vehicle for towing, such as my '11 Explorer. I think the new EB Escape has a tow package option that the FEH never had.

Lets face it, the C-Max and Energi is built for MPG and interior convenience. I had to have that rear hatch foot release and the new Escape and the C-Max can't have a hitch and have that system work.

The Highlander Hybrid is rated for 3500lbs towing, obviously it has a much more stout drivetrain/chassis. Interestingly, Toyota considers the hybrid to have the necessary transmission/engine cooling stock to handle towing.
