Default Battery Temp

I mentioned this in another thread, but I thought maybe it deserved it's own place.

When I got my SGII, I downloaded the settings from the Internet, which included a couple of pages of FEH specific settings. However, the setting for Hybrid Battery Temp did not work.

Does anyone have a valid programming setting for hybrid battery temp on the SGII?

You need to state what version 3.14? 3.15? 3.15*? 3.16? 3.17? of the scanguage II unit you have. The older version will not allow some of these x-guages.

I'm sure you have double checked, but triple check you keyed everything exactly right. It's easy to make a mistake. Guilty myself.

Also, there are different codes, such as Tmin, Tmax, Tave, and BatEvaporator temperature ( which kind of tells the temp. of the air duct when A/C is off, and shows dramatically when the A/C is being used.

Tave is the most important one and the one that controlls how the car behaves.

Just a few factoids:
A/C is used for the battery when Tave is over 86 degrees F.
It won't come on until 87, but then stays on* until the battery = 75 degrees
* you can force A/C off with cycling the key off and back on.
Between 87 and 95 degrees, the car will use A/C but still allow EV.
Above 96 degrees and EV is disabled, like "A/C max" is on.

Today was 91-93 degrees at my house this afternoon.
I went to lunch, and the A/C cooled the battery to 77 degrees.
Then I parked in the sun, but with windows open. ( 1pm )
Did not use the car again until 10pm.
At 10pm outside air was a nice, 68 degrees.
But my battery pack was a whopping 96 degrees!!!
Even though it was cool out, my A/C was on only to the rear, and my EV was disabled for a bit. The car will not use outside air, even if outside air is cool, if the battery pack is over 86 degrees. Kind of a waste, but the car is dumb that way and does not consider OAT.

3.15, I don't know about the "*". When I bought the SG last year, the manual that came with it had a setting for battery temp, it just didn't work.

I'm not sure what model year you have, but I've not seen my EV mode shut off. However, generally above 96 degrees my wife makes me disable the EV mode anyway.

I thought we figured out last year or so that the Btmp didn't read for 08's, so I haven't ever re-tried. I think mine is 3.15*, I'd have to re-check to be sure. I know I checked & rechecked the codes to be sure I had them right, so if there's a new/better set I'd love to try! It's been 100+ for over a week now, even parking in the shade of the garage it's still 95+, so I'm sute BTM(?) would be high.

Does the Battery Temp read for the 2009 models? Anyone?

Exclamation Re: Battery Temp

I discovered a new behavior today.

The A/C will come on for the rear at 80 degrees battery temp. and not go off until 71 degrees battery temp. if the A/C is turned on to the cabin (front) at the same time.

Otherwise, if the front A/C is off, the A/C won't come on until the battery gets over 86 degrees, and shuts off at 75 degrees.

Not a big deal, but interesting someone took the time to write two different control strategies.
