Default 2010 feh/ffh rpm

I test drove a new 2010 FEH and a FFH for the first time today. After the initial start, the RPM's on the FEH were about 1500 during warm up, then after a min or so, it settled down. I have never seen a vehicle rev that high for a warm up. Is this normal?

Thanks for your help.

Absolutely normal. Can be higher RPM's in colder weather. Doesn't last all that long, but it's been the same for all the FEH versions since introduction. You'll also get a similar higher RPM when SOC (state of charge) is low for any reason (like having just started the engine, or after extended use of the traction battery for low-speed driving, etc.).

Hope that helps.....they're great vehicles...we own two....a 2008 FEH and a 2010 FFH

Thanks Gary. I just seemed so odd, I thought it was going to run away on me.

We are looking at getting each like you, FEH for me and FFH for the wife. Glad to see you have both and like them.

Thanks again.

I'll have to admit, it did take some getting used to. The FFH has different characteristics, but they both have to still charge the traction battery when SOC gets low enough...and, a higher-than-usual RPM speeds that up a bit.

We first purchased the FEH 2008 for my wife, but after a while, she really wasn't all that comfortable with the larger vehicle. When I needed to replace my gasoline-only 2002 Escape, we went with the FFH for her, & I'm now happily driving the 2008 FEH.

We REALLY like them both. I just obtained a sat radio addon from Sirius for the FEH (the 2010 already had that, & we quickly liked it). I also exchanged the 'wimpy horn' on the FEH for one intended for a Ford Edge...much better. I've ordered a Scangauge (yeah, I'm a techie.....) for the FEH.

Hope you go for both vehicles.....I think you'll be happy with them.

Cheers,
Gary

If I can get a decent deal, I will have both.

Thanks.

I got the Fusion and the Escape should be here within the week. Already had the one I wanted on order. Lucky me.

Thanks again for your help Gary.

Oh, boy....always exciting when anticipating a new vehicle....and, you're getting twice the fun ! I think you'll like them, & I'm happy to help in any small way.

Cheers,
Gary
