For the past 3 months my 09 FEH's (170k miles) wrench light has been turning on more and more frequently. Originally the light would turn on after about 45 minutes of driving, I could turn the car off and back on, and the light wouldn't switch back on for another 45 mins. Now it starts to turn on immediately after starting the engine. How quickly the light turns on seems to correlate with when it gets hot outside, but this could be coincidence. The check engine light has stayed on consistently for the past 5 months since I've had it.

Recently, I've started experiencing issues with acceleration at low speed/ from stops - I'll press on the pedal, no acceleration happens until it finally "catches", and my RPMs jump up as it accelerates quickly.

I took it in to the dealership to have it checked - they pulled the P2450 code and said my EVAP canister vent valve needs to be replaced (and are charging $1150 for this replacement - $200 for diagnosis and $950 for replacement). On this forum I've seen a lot of different issues that could be causing the wrench light/acceleration issues - blend door actuator/simple battery filter/dirty throttle body/etc.

Any advice on how to move forward? The cost to replace the valve through the dealership seems outrageous and I'm worried this won't actually fix the drivability issues.

You can try to clean it or go to the junkyard. I had no driveability issues for this code but it does need to be fixed to pass emissions. Even a new one on ebay is probably less.
