Default 2006 FEH Groaning When Steering Low Speeds.

I have recently noticed that at slow speeds either driving 0-10 mph or in park, there is a low pitched inconsistent groaning (not holding a constant groan) in the front end of the vehicle. Loudest when turning right, slightly noticeable when turning the steering wheel left. There is noticeable vibration in the steering wheel with the noise. I'd say to check the the power steering pump if it had one, but since its all electric that would be out of the question. Any suggestions? Could this be an issue with the steering column?
