Default '09 FEH Parked 1 1/2 Years

Hi everyone

I stopped driving my '09 FEH in June of '11 after my best tank of 65mpg and 884 miles. The next tank I couldn't get my FEH to go EV so I parked it thinking it was the A/C not cooling the Hv battery or hybrid cooling pump. I started the FEH in December of '11 to check on the SoC and it was in the low 40% range, so I let it idle and charge back up to ~48%.

Today, I started the FEH after a year of sitting and not running all year. It's cool here at ~78F so EV was back to normal and I did determine my A/C was the problem by not cooling the Hv battery in June of '11. At start-up today, the SoC was down to 37%. I took the FEH out shopping to see how she ran after 1 1/2 years of sitting and she ran great except for rusty brake disc and tires that had some flat spot noise for the first ~5 miles.

The '09 FEH has truly been one of the best FEH's built for MPG . I only now have less than 30,000 miles on it and the interior looks like new. I'll start driving the FEH again till a better plug-in Ford model becomes available at a reasonable cost.

Wow, I'm amazed that the high voltage battery did not self discharge more that it evidently did.

I didn't pull the HV battery plug either. Also, the HV battery will fill the 12V battery as soon as you turn the key On.

Now I'm re-learning to hypermile the '09 FEH. Got my average Nav MPG just over 55mpg the last ~100 miles which was reset from the 12V being disconnected.
